While most people having a Samsung Galaxy S II are at Android 2.3.3 and are waiting on Android 2.3.4 (which includes yours truly) with an OTA update, we have got news that Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread has been leaked for stated device and that it is actually available for download right now.
The news comes from PocketNow –a blog devoted to bringing the latest news and views on smartphones. They cite an statement made by SAM Firmware in association with a few of the people behind DarkyROM regarding a leaked version of Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread, whose build date is September 15th (ten days ago).
From PocketNow:
The Samsung Galaxy S II is still THE Android phone of the moment (at least up until one of those HD screen-enabled beasts are released) and the manufacturer is trying to preserve the phone as much as date as much as possible.
The latest leak represents Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread for the Samsung Galaxy S II. The firmware version is I9100XXKI3, which equates to European version 3, dated September 15.
Samsung’s Galaxy S II superphone was revealed back in February at MWC and was released to different markets in May. legendary 4G Touch, the first variant of the Galaxy S II to release in us markets, was introduced just a few days ago on Sprint while other variations – for AT&T and T-Mobile – are on their way. The Galaxy S II has got universal acclaim for its best-in-class performance, bright and vibrant display, long-lasting battery life and outstanding optics.
Coming back to the leaked Android build, we suggest our dear visitors to stay away from it. While it has been proved to be working, it just isn’t worth the danger and we don’t even understand what this update brings with itself. The version number, jumping from .3 to .4 suggests that the updates are minor and, as such, it is finest to stay with whatever version you have now.
If you don’t set up it manually, you’ll eventually be able to get Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread for your Galaxy S II in the form of an Over-The-Air (OTA) update which, we personally think, would be a safer thing to do.
Still, you can inspect out the original thread right here if you’re interested. great luck!
